Due to the publication of the first teaser video for its upcoming sci-fi title Starfield, Bethesda Game Studios has lately been one of the stars of the E3 online presentation in 2021. Bethesda Senior Lighting Artist Keith Beltramini revealed that the development team created the brief yet visually stunning trailer video without using any cinematic techniques.
Bethesda's next IP, Starfield, was initially revealed to the world at E3 2019. The desire for Elder Scrolls 6 was great at the time, and fans were eager for any news about the game. As a result, fans' reactions to the announcement of a new game set in space appeared varied. Fans seem to be eagerly awaiting the debut of Starfield and have even begun to create their fan content, such as a Starfield-themed arcade cabinet.
Beltramini posted the first trailer video for Starfield and some stills from the teaser on his website. These sights may be familiar to fans who have previously viewed the footage. Beltramini, however, stated at the bottom of the post that the clip was created without the use of any cinematic technologies. This means that Bethesda's Creation Engine 2 was used to build, render, and produce all of the trailer material. With Starfield being the first Bethesda game to use this new 3D engine, the trailer movie felt like a clever approach to demonstrate the game development software's rendering capabilities.
According to Beltramini, he collaborated closely with the game's director, Istvan Pely, on the art design for the trailer's lighting and ambiance. The stills on his website do a great job of showcasing his work and give it an out-of-this-world feel that many sci-fi lovers will appreciate. Although most photographs focus on the strange yet iconic Starfield spacecraft, they do an excellent job of setting the outer space landscape and the astral world of the space adventure game.
With Starfield set to debut in November 2022, Bethesda will most certainly reveal further details about the game in the months, building up its release. Given how beautiful the video game's debut trailer is, it's pretty likely that subsequent content and videos will maintain the same graphical excellence. Hopefully, Bethesda will reveal additional information, particularly about the gameplay, Starfield's main character, and the plot narrative, so that fans can get a better picture of the game.
At E3 2021, three years after its announcement, Starfield received its first gameplay trailer. Despite providing more information about Bethesda's first new IP in over 25 years, the teaser was low on gameplay mechanics instead of painting broad strokes of the world.
