Among Us has released a lot of important news about the social deduction game so far in 2021, whether it's the confirmation that the game will officially be coming to PlayStation and Xbox or the presentation of its Airship map that launched earlier this year. However, it appears that the game's most recent piece of news is geared more towards those who haven't played Among Us previously, with Nintendo saying that it plans to offer free trials to its users.
Nintendo announced on Twitter that Switch Online users would soon be receiving a free week of Among Us. The free trial will start on July 21 at 10:00 a.m. PT and end on July 27 at 11:59 p.m. PT.
Of course, players who wish to take advantage of this free period will need to sign up for Nintendo Switch Online, which costs $3.99 per month, $7.99 for three months, or $19.99 for a year. They will be able to play Switch games online and gain access to additional incentives, such as a playable library of retro classics and other game trials if they sign up for the service.
Those who love their time with Among Us will be able to purchase the game at a discounted price, with Nintendo guaranteeing a 30% discount. The offer will be accessible to coincide with the start of the trial on Wednesday, but it will only be available for a short time before disappearing from Nintendo's store on August 1 at 11:59 p.m. PT. With the game's regular price of $5, users will be able to get a copy of Among Us for $3.50.
They'll also be able to expect plenty of material in the future, with InnerSloth already promising a slew of updates for Among Us in the months ahead. The most important of these is creating additional positions, which will give the social deduction experience more depth. Players will soon have to contend with sheriffs, scientists, and other different jobs with their purposes and abilities, in addition to crewmates and impostors.
Furthermore, a new map, as well as a Hide & Seek mode, are on the way. The impostors will chase down crewmates, who will have to hide across Among Us' numerous maps to avoid being found. It's become a popular player-created option among the game's community, and it appears that the devs want to make it an official game mode.
Among Us is now available on mobile, PC, and Nintendo Switch, with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X versions in the works. Between July 21 and July 27, Nintendo Switch Online members will be able to try it out for free.
