Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Review

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Review

28.09.2020 /

The launch project for the next generation PlayStation showcases not only the key features of the console, including the wonderful vibration functions of the controller but also offers an excellent demo of bug fixing.

Miles Morales is a near-perfect Spider-Man game that combines vibrant graphics, a well-written storyline and interesting characters while leaving room for artifact lovers and side quests to complete.

The game takes place sometime after the events of the original game, where young Miles Morales loses his father and gains his unique abilities. Under the mentorship of Peter Parker, he quickly becomes an excellent partner and assistant, saving New York from the forces of evil. Soon Peter is forced to leave for a couple of weeks on a European tour with his beloved Mary Jane, and Miles remains the main savior of the city. And then the big game begins, where evil corporations destroy the city in an attempt to control a new type of energy and power.

Like his older comrade, Miles Morales can quickly move around the city on a web, deliver strong and light blows, knock weapons out of the hands of enemies and arrange numerous finishing moves. His significant advantages are bioenergy, which allows for deadly electrical attacks, and invisibility, allowing you to play in the style of a predator and eliminating enemies one by one. Other useful gadgets, such as electric mines, also contribute to the stealth mode paralyzing the maximum number of opponents. During the fight, you are also free to use the web as a final finishing move or holographic clones that fight alongside you.

The fights look bright and intense, especially when combined with bioenergy strikes. Opponents use electronic armor, swords of active matter, as well as sniper rifles, so you will often have to make tactical decisions, eliminating snipers and submachine gunners first in order to avoid maximum damage.

With a lot of battles in ‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’, there are only a few bosses, but this is not disappointing. On the opposite, they don't require you to do crazy QTEs like in the original version. The fight with rhino from the beginning of the game will be more than enough for you.

All basic game mechanics of Miles Morales are based on infiltrating closed objects, disabling the reactors that power the defense, or eliminating bombs that can harm civilians in the city. There are also mini-puzzles, such as restoring the movement of trains or a funny mission to rescue a ginger cat, which is also called Spider-Man. The side quests themselves include chasing robbers and pushing a stuck supply truck out of the snow. There are also requests in the style of the missions to destroy gangs on the roofs that annoyed me in the original, but it is not at all necessary to complete them. You can just follow the main plot.

Customization and pumping offer to improve basic techniques in exchange for experience points, as well as change the appearance of the costume in exchange for parts that are scattered throughout the city, but this part is intended more for gathering enthusiasts. If you get all the details, then you can go in search of secrets hidden in childhood.

Music and graphics are some of the game's strongest points. The compositions are perfectly matched to the situation and create a great action mood. Also, the visual component certainly helps to create a realistic and vivid atmosphere.

Reflection of steel skyscrapers and colourful shops and night streets of Harlem along with the bright lighting effects, explosions, lasers and tracer bullets flying from all directions - this is a real feast for the eyes, demonstrating why we have waited a long time for this new generation.

‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ is a great game that combines vivid characters, an interesting storyline and a balanced amount of action and staging. The most important thing is that there is no gloom and grind here, and eight hours just fly by unnoticed.

The only thing that can upset you is a rather limited combat system, but on the other hand, you should hardly expect hundreds of unique combinations from the "Spider". Although there could be more options for finishing moves. But the final part and the end of the game are simply some of the strongest this year, if not at all in the last few years. And this is the best starter project in the history of new PlayStation gaming systems that I have tested.
