Valve is trying six years again after developing a line of Linux gaming consoles that went down as one of the biggest tech flops of the last decade. This time, the company's Steam Machine fantasies and odd touchpads have been folded into a 7-inch handheld PC that appears and functions like a Nintendo Switch.
Delusory enough to believe it's a Switch-killer. (While the Steam Deck's $399 beginning pricing may appear to be comparable to Nintendo's $350 Switch with an OLED screen, the Steam Deck does not include Mario, Zelda, or Metroid.) But, having followed Valve for the previous nine years, I don't think it'll be a flop like the Steam Machines.
