Typically, the seller only returns games if they haven't been opened at all, but GameStop is clearly willing to make an exception for this odd case. That said, customers will still have to return Cyberpunk 2077 within 30 days of purchase.
This whole situation developed after the unsuccessful release of Cyberpunk 2077. The game launched on December 10, but only four days later, the developer CD Projekt Red asked users for some time to solve the poor quality of the game on PS4 and Xbox One and also mentioned that buyers could receive a refund for the game. The studio also reported that several important fixes are in the works. When talking to investors, CD Projekt admitted that they did not have enough time to get the older versions of the game to work well.
Sony has since removed the PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store and is offering a full refund, while Microsoft is also refunding buyers. After the removal of Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store, CD Projekt's stock dropped 15%.
